I truly love making these paintings. While labor intense, requiring hours of engraving and burnishing, the results are worth it and quite "Wabi Sabi" in nature. I use metal, foil, acrylics, oil, oil pastels, iridescence, water color and anything else within reach. The biggest problem is getting good photos of the finished work. They need to play with light to give the full effect - the images change throughout the day.

Encaustics & Experiments
Encaustic is pigment suspended in bees wax and applied with heat. It is one way to enjoy ironing! For those of you who don't know what ironing is, you'll have to Google it. I preferred the scrying technique at first, but later decided to see if I could use it to render. It's a challenge because it dries very fast.

Paintings
The desire to paint has been the driving force behind all of my creative endeavors. Whether in the studio, kitchen, or outdoors - using oil, acrylic or other, the desire and need to paint has been with me since I was a teenager.
I remain fascinated by art history in that the materials have been basically the same over years, but the outcomes hugely different! I believe there is an artist in every human being that should be encouraged to express that which brings joy to them. The ability to do it well takes time, practice, study and an agreement with self not to be too critical.

Photographs
I have never been into the exact science of photography and have only spent time in the dark room on a few occasions. However, I've enjoyed taking pictures for many years. I've been in the right place at the right time enough times to have built a rather large collection of photographic images. Here are some of my favorites.

New Media
Digital art is "New Media". While being experimental, it also allows an exact, repeatable outcome. For me, it started when I took a night photo of the Milwaukee, WI, art museum. I put one image in the computer and started playing around with it in Photoshop. Here are a few pictures, from painterly to whimsical graphics; it's pure fun to manipulate pixels. It's where pointillism meets electricity!
